DIY Story Time | There’s a Wocket in My Pocket! by Dr. Seuss

To celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday on March 2nd, I created a Dr. Seuss passive program. There’s a Wocket in My Pocket is my absolute favorite book ever, so I had to chose that one for my story time. I found a super cute The Cat in the Hat craft on Pinterest, but it didn’t go with my book. I thought it over for a couple days, trying to figure out how to make that The Cat in the Hat craft work with There’s a Wocket in My Pocket

Then in a wave of pure genius, I realized what I could do, and I wouldn’t have to create more craft pieces: recycle left over story time crafts for a “Build Your Own Dr. Seuss Pet!” craft!

So I threw a bunch of parts and pieces in a basket, and instructed the kids to “Color each piece like Dr. Seuss would (go to the E FIC SEU shelf for inspiration). And don’t forget to give your pet a Seussy name!”

I made a small sign that says “E FIC SEU” and set it on top of the shelving unit with the Dr. Seuss books. I decorated a bulletin board with Dr. Seuss facts, and put out Dr. Seuss bookmarks.

Also, I made a pretty awesome birthday bulletin board, with fun Dr. Seuss facts and Truffula Trees.
